What is a Refraction and Will My Insurance Pay for it?
A refraction is a diagnostic test that is performed to determine your eyeglass prescription. Medicare and many other insurance plans consider a refraction to be routine medical care not covered under their medical coverage, so this amount is charged separately and is paid directly by the patient.
Will Vision or Medical Insurance Pay for My Visit?
While we do not accept vision plans, your medical insurance plan covers the diagnosis and management of medical eye issues, such as dry eye disease, glaucoma, and macular disease.Your diagnosis (medical or non-medical) cannot be determined until an examination by the physician is performed.
